A skort is a type of garment that combines the appearance of a skirt with the practicality of shorts. It typically features a skirt-like front panel with fabric overlapping or attached to a pair of shorts underneath. The term "skort" is a portmanteau of "skirt" and "shorts."
What are the advantages of a skort?
Skorts are designed to provide the freedom of movement and comfort associated with shorts while offering the look of a skirt. They are commonly worn in casual or sporty settings and are popular among women and girls.
As well as these benefits, we noted that the crotch area of our shorts sometimes creates a ‘camel toe’ and/or rides up or is a bit loose. Because the fabric we use is a stretchy nylon and the garments are designed to swim in, they need to be reasonably snug. However, that creates a design problem for us – the crotch area needs to be not too loose and not too tight, but just right. Fortunately we are all unique so it’s impossible to design a swim pant that will fit all women perfectly. This is another reason we have added a skort – the skirt part covers any imperfections around the crotch.
A suggestion
For the majority of women our pants will be perfect! But if you are unsure, please try the skort. It covers some potentially less than perfect bits but also feels incredibly freeing and practical.
I have noticed over the years that when I encourage my customers to try the skort, they are delighted. So even if they didn’t initially consider the skort as an option, they are often pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to wear and how great it looks.
